In Belgorod, the Kreida district, which is located in the south of the Eastern District of the city, came under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the day. According to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, one resident of the city died — he was sitting in a car into which shrapnel flew. Two more were hospitalized.
Due to the shelling, windows were blown out in 12 houses, cars parked nearby, two kindergartens and a school. There were no children or teachers there at that time. Seven private houses in the suburban village of Razumnoye were also damaged.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the Ukrainian military attacked the southeast of Belgorod with an RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system and that air defense systems shot down 13 shells. They don’t write how many were released.
Telegram channel “Tin Belgorod” posted video from surveillance cameras in the courtyard of a high-rise building on Makarenko Street, where a shell exploded next to a car in the parking lot. The city channels “Belgorod No. 1”, “Ash” and “Fonar” also publish photos of damage from eyewitnesses.
Belgorod has been under fire since last week; for several days in a row there have been battles in settlements on the border with Ukraine. According to Governor Gladkov, as of yesterday, a week of shelling had killed 16 civilians and injured another 98. As a result, Gladkov announced the imminent evacuation of nine thousand children from border areas, and school holidays began ahead of schedule.
