MOSCOW, April 6 Wireless charging, contrary to popular myth, does not damage the smartphone’s battery: the device can be connected daily and even overnight, this will not affect the battery’s performance, the expert said «Megafon» on portable equipment Vitaly Dubynin.
“There is a myth about significant wear and tear on the battery of gadgets due to the use of wireless chargers. In fact, a smartphone can be connected to power wirelessly at least every day or left on such a charge all night. This will not affect the operation of its battery — the loss of capacity will be as follows the same as if you constantly charge it through a cord,” Dubynin said.
As the expert explained, the condition of the phone’s battery is affected not by the charging method, but by the components — the charging station, cable and power supply must be of high quality. However, the most powerful wireless station does not guarantee that the phone will charge faster; you need to pay attention to the parameters of the device being charged, which are indicated by the manufacturer. Dubynin recommended choosing a charging power supply with a small power reserve. For example, if wireless charging provides 15 W, then the adapter for it should be selected for 20 W.
When choosing wireless charging, you need to pay attention to the characteristics of the components. So, for smartphones that support a charge of 20 W, for example, it is useless to buy equipment with a power of 50 W — the gadget will still not be able to accept more than 20 W and charge faster.
«»Wireless devices are often criticized for heating the gadget they are charging. A slight increase in the temperature of the smartphone battery is a feature of this type of charging. Moreover, if you connect the phone to power via a cord and also continue to use it, for example, start a game, the gadget will heat up exactly the same,” Dubynin noted.
The temperature sensor installed in smartphones does not allow the device to heat above 45°C. “If overheating is detected, the power controller will require a reduction in the supplied power. Also, high-quality wireless chargers have a controller installed,” the expert concluded.
