MOSCOW, May 4. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky urgently gathered high-ranking military personnel from the General Staff because of the situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front, British expert Alexander Merkouris said in his YouTube blog.
“Zelensky convened the entire General Staff and ordered the military to hold their positions at any cost, There should be no more retreats,” the analyst asserts.
As Merkouris noted, the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is extremely difficult, and the Russian offensive is gaining momentum. According to him, after a series of serious failures in Kyiv, the West began to demand from the Ukrainian leadership to stop the collapse of the front.
The Russian army, having defeated the advancing forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the summer and autumn of last year, then launched several sensitive counterattacks to the enemy and moved forward , liberating Marinka, Avdeevka, Pervomaiskoye, Bogdanovka, Novomikhailovka, Novobakhmutovka and a number of other settlements in the Donbass.
