MOSCOW, May 4. The Ukrainian army near Chasov Yar is in a difficult situation, the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the city will open the way to Russia’s liberation of Kramatorsk, said retired French army colonel Michel Goya in an interview with LCI.
“In the direction of Chasov Yar (at the Ukrainian Armed Forces. — Note ed.) big troubles. There is a risk of a fairly rapid fall of this city,” the expert believes.
According to him, the settlement is well fortified by Ukrainian troops and represents a successful defensive position. The capture of this strategic settlement by the Russians will allow them to develop their offensive and reach the approaches to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, Goya noted.
“These are two cities with a combined population of more than one hundred thousand people, <…> and they are really important «, the colonel recalled.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky said that Chasov Yar will inevitably fall under the blows of the Russian army.
As Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said last week, Russian troops have the initiative along the entire line of combat contact and continue to squeeze the Ukrainian Armed Forces from their occupied lines. The settlements of Pervomaiskoe, Bogdanovka and Novomikhailovka in the DPR have been liberated. The department also reported that the villages of Semenovka and Berdychi had been taken under control.
