The Vasileostrovsky District Court of St. Petersburg fined city defender Oleg Mukhin 25 thousand rubles under the protocol on organizing an unapproved rally (Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). This was reported by participants in the “SOS St. Petersburg Demolition” movement.
The reason for the administrative case was the October 7 action in defense of Schroeder’s house on Vasilyevsky Island. The building was built in 1796 and began to be demolished in February 2024.
A correspondent for the publication MR7, who attended the meeting, reports that, according to city defenders, on that day they did not hold a rally or raise slogans in defense of at home, but simply took pictures next to him.
Mukhin was detained the day before, on May 21, while leaving his house. Yesterday he was also fined 30 thousand rubles according to a similar protocol due to another autumn action — in defense of the buildings of the former Kirov meat processing plant on Moskovskoe Highway, built in the 1930s in the style of constructivism. The activist this time insisted that it was not a picket, but a photo shoot that did not require approval.
The Schroeder House, built at the end of the 18th century, was deprived of its protected status in 2019. According to activists, this was done illegally. The developers who were demolishing the building for new development promised to preserve its outer walls. On the site where Schroeder's house was located, a business-class residential complex with 400 apartments will be built.
