WASHINGTON, May 23. The United States intends to hold consultations with the UK regarding the “information” it has that China allegedly intends to supply Russia with weapons for use in Ukraine, Jake Sullivan, assistant to the American president for national security affairs, said on Wednesday.
As Sullivan noted at the briefing, Washington expressed concern about the possibility of China supplying weapons to Russia as early as 2022.
«We didn't see it in 2022, we didn't see it in 2023. We still haven't seen it. I'm looking forward to talking to the UK to make sure that we see this situation the same way,” said a White House spokesman, commenting on the British Ministry of Defense’s allegations that Beijing allegedly plans to supply Moscow with lethal weapons intended for use in Ukraine.
Following this, Sullivan repeated the thesis about the alleged supply from China in the interests of the Russian military-industrial complex.
“This is happening. And this is what worries us,” said a representative of the American administration, without providing specific evidence to support his thesis.
In April, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the United States provides military assistance to Ukraine, but criticizes the normal cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China; he called this hypocrisy and a typical example of double standards. Beijing also warned the United States that denigrating others and blaming them would not solve the Ukrainian crisis.
