The Basmanny District Court has stopped considering the complaint of lawyer Fedor Sirosh against the investigator's refusal to allow Antonina Favorskaya to visit her relatives in the pretrial detention center.
The court was supposed to consider this complaint on May 27, but the hearing was postponed. On the same day, the investigator in Antonina Favorskaya's case signed permission for her mother and grandmother to visit the journalist for the first time, while her lawyers were in court.
Today, investigator Petr Razinkov immediately asked the court to attach this permission to the case and, on this basis, stop considering lawyer Sirosh's complaint.
Lawyer Fedor Sirosh, together with his colleague Evgeniya Grigorieva, insisted that today they would appeal the investigator's old refusals to grant a visit, despite the fact that permission had recently been received.
«What else do you want [head of the investigation team Roman] Vidyukov to do?» — Judge Vakhrameev asked the defense with displeasure.
Pyotr Razinikov, who represented the investigation at today's hearing, confirmed that the Investigative Committee had indeed refused Antonina Favorskaya's first request for visits with her family, but allowed visits and phone calls the second time.
It took the judge only ten minutes to grant the investigator's motion to terminate the consideration of the complaint.
Antonina Favorskaya's colleagues and friends, as well as employees of the embassies of the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Great Britain, came to the court to support her. «Thank you for coming!» Favorskaya managed to shout before everyone left the courtroom.
On March 29, Favorskaya was arrested on charges of participating in the activities of an «extremist community.» According to the press service of the Moscow courts, the journalist is charged with «collecting material, producing and editing videos and publications for the FBK.» Favorskaya herself, when she was being led out of the courtroom, managed to shout: “They are judging me for an article about how the Federal Penitentiary Service tortured Alexei Navalny!”
