The 235th garrison military court in Moscow arrested Pavel Guguev on charges of confidential cooperation with foreigners (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code), the press service of the court told Mediazona.
Details of the case were not given in court , citing the secrecy of the investigation.
Pavel Guguev is a former prisoner convicted of murder, causing moderate harm and theft (Articles 105, 112 and 158 of the Criminal Code). In 2013, the Noginsk City Court of the Moscow Region sentenced him to 12 years in a special regime colony, taking into account the previous suspended sentence for theft. Out of 12 years, Guguev served 10 years in prison, went to war in Ukraine and was captured there.
While in captivity, Guguev gave an interview to Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Karpenko, it was published on Vladimir Zolkin’s YouTube channel. In the video, Guguev spoke about the large losses among the Russian military.
Later, Guguev was exchanged. Already in Russia, he gave a second interview to Dmitry Karpenko; it was published in July 2023. In it, Guguev continued to talk about the situation in the Russian army. Guguev also claimed that in Russia he was asked to announce that he was “forced” to give an interview in Ukraine.
“Cold”, with reference to another prisoner, wrote that Guguev gave interviews from Russia while he was in a military unit in the Moscow region. The day after the publication of this interview, Kholod’s interlocutor said, all the prisoners who were in the unit with Guguev had their phones taken away, they were also forbidden to go for walks and receive broadcasts. Guguev himself was put in a room that had previously been used as a weapons room for several days.
