In the Moscow pre-trial detention center “Matrosskaya Tishina”, the former Minister of Sports of Dagestan and ex-head of Kizilyurt Magomed Magomedov, who is accused of embezzlement budget funds. Moskovsky Komsomolets, Kommersant and Baza report this with reference to sources.
According to the publications' interlocutors, Magomedov tried to commit suicide on the night of July 20. The ex-official was taken to the Sklifosovsky Research Institute in a moderate condition. The authors of the Baza telegram channel claim that the man has many cut wounds.
Magomedov was arrested in October 2023. According to security officials, the embezzlement of which he is accused occurred between 2012 and 2021. At that time, Magomedov was the Minister of Sports of Dagestan, and later he was appointed head of Kizilyurt.
The Dagestan newspaper “Chernovik”, with reference to the materials of the criminal case, wrote that the ex-official is also accused of murdering two or more persons (points “a”, “e” and “g” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code ) and illegal trafficking in weapons (part 4 of article 222 of the Criminal Code).
