Acting Governor of Kursk Oblast Alexey Smirnov reported that more than two hundred people had been evacuated «from the combat zone» in the 24 hours since the Ukrainian army began attacking.
According to him, several thousand more people, with the assistance of the authorities, left «the shelled territories» in their personal vehicles. Smirnov did not specify from which cities and villages in Kursk Oblast people were evacuated.
The regional authorities claim that they are ready to place the evacuees in other regions of Russia. In addition, Smirnov reported that 16 doctors had arrived in Kursk from Moscow. The Sirena publication also drew attention to the comments under the official's appeal on VKontakte. Residents of the border town of Sudzha write that in fact no one is evacuating them.
In the morning, the pro-war Telegram channel «Rybar» wrote that the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers occupied three Russian border villages in the Kursk region — Darino, Nikolayevo-Daryino and Sverdlikovo, and also probably control part of the Rylsk-Sudzha highway and the area along the 38K-004 highway.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense claims that Russian aviation, missile forces and artillery did not allow «the enemy to advance deep into the territory of the Russian Federation.» According to the department, strikes on the reserve forces of the Ukrainian army were carried out on the territory of the Sumy region of Ukraine.
Fighting in the border areas of the Kursk region has been going on for 24 hours. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the morning of August 6, «positions of cover units» on the border of Ukraine and Russia were attacked by 300 Ukrainian servicemen, 11 tanks and 20 armored vehicles. As Rybar writes, the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are advancing towards Sudzha.
The regional authorities confirm the death of five people. Another 28 people, according to official information, were injured to varying degrees during the fighting and shelling.
