Vladimir Putin commented on the fighting in the border areas of the Kursk region for the first time in 24 hours at a meeting with the government. The event is being broadcast by the Kremlin press service.
“The Kiev regime has launched another large-scale provocation, conducting indiscriminate fire from various types of weapons, including missiles, at civilian buildings, residential buildings, and ambulances,” Putin said at the very beginning of the meeting.
After that, he added that he gave “instructions to a number of civilian agencies to provide the necessary assistance to residents of the region,” without specifying their essence.
Fighting in the border areas of the Kursk region has been going on for 24 hours now. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the morning of August 6, “the positions of cover units” on the border of Ukraine and Russia were attacked by 300 Ukrainian servicemen, 11 tanks, and 20 armored vehicles. As Rybar writes, the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers have occupied three villages and are advancing towards Sudzha.
The regional authorities confirm the death of five people. Another 28 people, according to official information, were injured to varying degrees during the fighting and shelling.
