Foreigner forged documents to appropriate his "wife's" Sochi apartment

A foreigner attempted to illegally seize an apartment worth more than ten million rubles that belonged to a resident of Sochi. To do this, he forged documents.

According to information provided by the regional prosecutor's office, a 53-year-old man, who is not a Russian citizen, decided to take advantage of the circumstances to take possession of the property. He approached a notary with a fake marriage certificate with a local resident, claiming that he was her husband. Based on this document, he tried to obtain the right to inherit, since the deceased Russian woman had no close relatives. According to the law, in such cases, the property should have been transferred to the municipal treasury.

However, this plan did not work. Law enforcement agencies drew attention to the oddities in this situation. The notary, suspecting something was wrong, notified the police, which led to the beginning of an investigation. As a result of the investigation, it turned out that the marriage certificate was fake, and the foreigner himself had no legal grounds for claiming the apartment.

A criminal case was opened against the suspect under the article on attempted fraud. According to the prosecutor's office, the case with the approved indictment has been sent to the Khostinsky District Court of Sochi for further consideration.

In addition, during the trial, the court decided to transfer the apartment to the ownership of the municipality.
