Court session on the election of a measure of restraint for Petro Poroshenko ended late yesterday evening without any decision. The hearing has been rescheduled for January 19. Prosecutors demand the arrest of the ex-president with the possibility of bail of 1 billion hryvnia.

On Monday, the Pechersky District Court was unable to issue an opinion on the measure of restraint for Petro Poroshenko on «coal» case. The judge was in the deliberation room for more than 4 hours.
At about 23:00, the representative of the court announced that the hearing was postponed. The decision will be announced at 14:00 on January 19.
How the meeting wentPoroshenko arrived at the court directly from the airport, but before that he spoke at the rally. Supporters of the former president were under the court building all day.
The meeting began late, and half an hour later the court went for a break to familiarize the defense with the case file.
After the hearing was resumed, the politician's lawyers stated that their client could not be a suspect, since the suspicion was served in violation of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. The defense also filed a motion to return the case to the prosecutor's office due to a number of procedural violations in the documents.
Petro Poroshenko himself called the case against him «a political order» and said that does not consider himself a suspect. Speaking in court, he noted that the suspicion was not signed by the Prosecutor General, and the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada was not notified, as required by law.
During the meeting, the prosecution demanded that detention be chosen as a measure of restraint for the former president. As an alternative, the prosecutor's office insisted on a bail of 1 billion hryvnias with the condition to wear an electronic bracelet, hand over passports, and not leave the Kyiv region without the permission of the investigation.
At about 18:00, the judge went to the deliberation room to make a decision. Meanwhile, protests in support of the politician continued on the street, and security forces were pulled to the courthouse.
Poroshenko is accused of treason and assistance to terrorists «LDNR»
Petro Poroshenko has been declared suspicion of high treason and assistance to terrorist organizations. The investigation believes that the actions of the ex-president helped the Russian Federation and the «LDNR» conduct subversive activities against Ukraine.
As it was established during the investigation, Poroshenko, in collusion with a group of people, developed a scheme for supplying coal from ORDLO, instead of its alternative purchase in South Africa. Defendants «coal» People's Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, ex-Minister of Energy Viktor Demchishin and businessman Serhiy Kuzyara are also in charge.
