Users bought currencies for UAH 4.5 million and caused damage to the bank in the amount of UAH 150,000. However, the company will not demand money back.
On January 27, due to an error, the Monobank mobile application sold dollars for 1 hryvnia cheaper than the official rate, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Focus.
Oleg Gorokhovsky, co-founder of the bank, announced this on his Telegram channel.
According to him, in the morning the manager responsible for exchange rates set the cost of selling the dollar at UAH 28.03, while the official one is UAH 29.1. Such a rate in the application was saved for about 25 minutes, while the employees corrected the error, and the system «pulled» correct value. During this time, users managed to buy UAH 4.5 million worth of dollars.
«The amount of damage amounted to about UAH 150,000. We got off with a slight fright and excellent conclusions on how to remove risks in such places for the future. Of course, we will not add anything from clients. Someone got lucky», — wrote Oleg Gorokhovsky.
