According to the published report on global testing for 2021, during this period, 274,254 doping samples were collected. In 2020, 168256 samples were collected, and in 2019 — 305881. «In-competition testing remains lower than in pre-pandemic times, primarily due to fewer competitions taking place. At the same time, the number of out-of-competition samples in the last 12 months is higher than for 2019,” the press release notes. WADA also called on all anti-doping organizations, international federations, and national anti-doping agencies to maximize the possibility of long-term storage of samples collected from athletes in the run-up to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics for their further analysis using the latest scientific methods.
