The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the ill-treatment of civilians and the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare (part 1 of article 356 of the Criminal Code) after the discovery of mass graves in the Donbass. According to the investigation, in August-September 2021, five spontaneous mass graves were discovered in the territories of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, of which “the remains of at least 295 civilians who died as a result of indiscriminate shelling from Ukrainian armed formations in 2014.”
The White House said that information about recently discovered mass graves in the Donbass could be disinformation.
Last year, the head of the “LPR” Leonid Pasechnik in an interview, he said that since the beginning of the conflict, at least nine thousand people have died in the territories of the two republics, of which four thousand have died on the territory of the “LPR”.
The head of the «DPR» Denis Pushilin reported more than five thousand civilians killed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly specified that almost 15,000 people have died since the start of the conflict in Donbass.
