The Federal Tourism Agency reported that there are «about 150 thousand» tourists in the regions of Russia who will not be able to fly out until March 2 due to the closure of airports.
According to the Federal Tourism Agency, among them there are 25 thousand organized tourists, most of the travelers stay in the Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.
“Tourists who are now vacationing in regions with closed airports and due to return home after March 2 continue their trips as usual. Tourists who were supposed to fly from regions with closed airports before March 2 can purchase tickets for special additional trains launched by Russian Railways,” the agency added.
The agency urged hoteliers to “meet tourists” and extend hotel stays without increasing the cost of services, “and, if possible, at no additional charge.”
Rostourism also noted that now, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, it is compiling a list of tourists who cannot return to Russia from other countries due to reason for airport closures.
Earlier it became known that Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport suspended flights to Sochi, Simferopol, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Hurghada, Orenburg, Rostov, Krasnodar, Ulyanovsk and from Sharm el-Sheikh. Also, flights were canceled in the south of Russia. Rosaviatsia announced the closure of 12 airports.
