MOSCOW, Mar 1 The Executive Committee of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) will meet on Wednesday , March 2, to discuss sanctions against Russian and Belarusian athletes in connection with the events in Ukraine, according to the official website of the organization. On Saturday, the IBU announced that biathletes from the Russian and Belarusian teams will compete in the World Cup and IBU Cup as neutral athletes from for the situation in Ukraine. In addition, biathletes from Russia and Belarus will not receive points at the World Cup stages against the Nations Cup, and anthems, flags and uniforms with the symbols of these countries will be banned at the competitions. After that, the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation announced that they had decided not to participate in competitions under the auspices of the IBU due to sanctions. «The IBU Executive Board will meet tomorrow to decide on further measures after the recent events related to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,» the statement said.
