MOSCOW, Jun 27A transgender woman has won a U.S. street skateboarding competition where four of the six women's competitors were under 17, according to the Daily Mail. The Boardr Open, open to all skill levels but divided into men's and women's events, was held in New York . The winner was Ricci Tres, 29, who was born male but now identifies as female. Tres received a prize of $500, who became the second 13-year-old Shiloh Katori earned $250 in prize money. The youngest competitor was 10 years old. The event drew backlash from skateboarder Taylor Silverman, who revealed that she had placed second in competition several times behind trans women. «I competed in three different competitions with trans women, two of who came second. What happened was unfair, but at the time I was too embarrassed to talk about it. I understand that in today's society some women find this acceptable, but I believe in doing the right thing, even if it's not popular,» Silverman wrote on Instagram (the activities of Meta (social networks Facebook and Instagram) are banned in Russia as extremist), adding that at one of the tournaments the winner received several thousand dollars. According to the Daily Mail, citing Red Bull publications and Sports Illustrated, skateboarders who go through puberty as men have inherent advantages over female rivals. Men's and women's tricks are evaluated according to the same criteria, but men, due to their greater physical strength, can perform more difficult tricks and score more points. Also important in skateboarding are the muscles of the abdomen and back, which are much better developed in mature men than in girls. All this could give Tres an unfair advantage over rivals. The publication notes that, according to a survey, 62% of Americans believe that transgender athletes should compete in accordance with their birth sex, and not in accordance with gender identity.
