BERLIN, Aug 17 Munich police open criminal case against security guard of Arab origin, who demonstrated the Nazi salute to athletes from Israel, writes Süddeutsche Zeitung. The incident occurred the night before in the Munich Olympic Park, where there is a monument to Israeli athletes who died in a terrorist attack at the 1972 Olympics. When a delegation of athletes and officials from Israel walked towards the memorial, a guard showed them a Nazi salute. The gesture, forbidden in Germany, was noticed by a policeman who accompanied the delegation. The security guard, who turned out to be a 19-year-old Berlin resident of Arab origin, faces a fine and/or up to three years in prison. The attack at the Olympic Games in Munich was staged by the Palestinian terrorist organization Black September. Then 11 members of the Israeli team and one German policeman were killed.
