MOSCOW, Aug 18 Sergei Mironov appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office because of the statement of the President of the Russian Premier League (RPL) Alexander Alaev about the inclusion of Crimean clubs in Russian competitions. In July, Alaev said that he did not see the possibility of Crimean teams playing in the system of Russian football leagues. By the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Crimean clubs, after Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, compete in the regional championship.
"President of the Russian Premier League Alexander Alaev said that football teams from Crimea cannot participate in Russian competitions, that FIFA and UEFA do not recognize Crimea as part of Russia. That is, the Constitution is not a decree for this bureaucrat? I wrote to the Prosecutor General, let him check it!" Mironov wrote in social networks.
August 16, Alaev was unanimously elected to the post of president of the RPL for five years. Prior to that, he was the league's acting president.
