
MOSCOW, Mar 14 -Suri, accompanied by making fires in the streets and using pyrotechnics, exceeded 700 people in Iran, killing at least 17 more, reports the local Tasnim agency, citing medical services.
Earlier it was reported about 338 victims and 15 victims.
It is noted that as of Tuesday evening, the number of victims is 714 people across the country. More than 130 victims were hospitalized, eight people are in intensive care, some of the victims had their limbs amputated.
Every year Iran celebrates the Chaharshanbe-Suri holiday, which falls on the night of the last Wednesday of the year according to the Iranian calendar. According to tradition, on this day, Iranians jump over a fire; pyrotechnics are also used during the festivities. New Year or Nouruz falls on March 21st. More than 1.5 thousand people were injured last year.
