
MOSCOW, Mar 15 Syrian President Bashar al-Assad , who is in Moscow on a working visit, on Wednesday laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden.
Assad, who laid a wreath of dark scarlet roses framed by a ribbon of the colors of the Syrian flag, was accompanied by a delegation of Syrian politicians and military. The Syrian leader honored the memory of the fallen soldiers with a minute of silence. The laying ceremony was accompanied by the Military Exemplary Band of the Guard of Honor.
Assad arrived in Moscow on Tuesday evening. At Vnukovo airport, he was met by Russian Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Bashar Jaafari and Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Yefimov.
The Syrian leader is scheduled to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Russian capital. The last time Putin and Assad saw each other was in September 2021, when the Syrian president also visited Moscow.
