The Moscow Arbitration Court has recovered 200,000 rubles from Georgy Saribekyan, the founder of the Feelosophy Store, following a lawsuit filed by the Russia Today channel over merchandise with the word «foreign agent». Representatives of the store told about this on Instagram.
Russia Today began selling T-shirts with the inscription «foreign agent» back in 2017, when the US Department of Justice included the TV channel in the corresponding register. In June 2020, a state-owned channel obtained the intellectual rights to the «foreign agent» trademark.
Feelosophy Store launched its «foreign agent» t-shirts in August 2021, emphasizing that the clothing was produced in support of Meduza and other people and organizations that have received such status. A few months later, Saribekyan received a pre-trial claim from RT, the channel demanded 500 thousand rubles from them.
The arbitration court ruled on the claim in July 2022. In October, it was upheld by the court of appeal, and in March 2023 — by the court of cassation.
