
MOSCOW, March 18 Excavations in the historical and archaeological park «Tauric Chersonese» became unprecedented in history in terms of scale, during which more than 3 million unique artifacts, said the chairman of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhov Tikhon (Shevkunov) during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Tauric Chersonese historical and archaeological park.
«Excavations were carried out here on 81 thousand square meters. Nowhere in history have such excavations been carried out in one place. Neither in the Soviet, nor in the post-Soviet period, nor in Russia, nor in the world was there such volume of archaeological excavations. More than 3 million unique artifacts have been found,» the metropolitan told the president. The visit of the head of state was shown by the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
During the tour, Metropolitan Tikhon told Putin about further plans for the development of the park, for example, about the construction of a museum of Christianity, about plans to create a museum «Russia is my history», an exposition of the history of Crimea and New Russia.
