MOSCOW, 19 Mar. Today, March 19, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg celebrates its 125th anniversary. The program of the festivities is published on the website of the institution.
In the Mikhailovsky Palace, visitors will be greeted by reenactors dressed in authentic costumes from the late 19th century.
“Meeting historical figures at the exposition is a rare opportunity that visitors of the Russian Museum will have on the day of its anniversary. Among the famous characters are the first manager of the Russian Museum of Alexander III, Grand Duke Georgy Mikhailovich, architect Leonty Benois, Princess and philanthropist Maria Tenisheva , as well as artists whose works adorn the exposition of the museum: Ilya Repin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Ivan Shishkin,» the museum says.
Concerts are also planned. There will be performances by young performers from the «Art-Line» Foundation for the Support of Arts, the «Soloists of St. Petersburg» chamber ensemble conducted by Mikhail Gantvarg, and a graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory Lev Potapov.
The musical marathon will continue on 23 March — a concert of the State Orchestra of Folk Instruments «Metelitsa» named after. N. I. Privalova in the Mikhailovsky Castle. And on March 25, the string ensemble of the State Academic Chapel will perform at the Stroganov Palace.
“The biggest gift for us will be the interest of visitors and their participation in our events,” says Anna Tsvetkova, Acting General Director of the institution.
