The FSB officers forced the lawyer of Cheboksary resident Artem Begoyan, accused of setting fire to transformers along the railway tracks, to resign. This is reported by the «Solidarity Zone».
In March, instead of an appointed lawyer, Adel Khaydarshin, who is collaborating with the Solidarity Zone, joined the Begoyan case. He sent a request to the investigator of the FSB department for Chuvashia to familiarize himself with the case materials, but was refused. It follows from the response of the security forces that Begoyan refused his services.
After that, Khaidarshin visited his client in the pre-trial detention center. Begoyan told him that he wrote the refusal after pressure from FSB officers who threatened to “take him to the forest” and “make life difficult” for the young man in the detention center.
“My client was told: you will continue to cooperate with the lawyer by agreement, we will do everything to give the maximum term. Conversations with Begoyan are carried out in the absence of a lawyer and not even an investigator, but operatives. They take him to an office without cameras and already there they have a «conversation». They said that they could allegedly take him away for investigative actions to the forest, to the scene of the crime, and do something with him. If you continue to work with this lawyer, we will take you out of the pre-trial detention center. They also threatened to complicate life in the pre-trial detention center,” the lawyer said.
Khaidarshin sent an application to the Chamber of Lawyers of Tatarstan, where he lives, and plans to write complaints to other authorities. In his opinion, the FSB investigators «are comfortable with a lawyer by appointment and from their own region.»
About the criminal case against Begoyan became known in January. A 19-year-old boy is accused of setting fire to relay and battery cabinets on the Alatyr-Svetotekhnika railway line in Chuvashia. He himself admitted that he had a negative attitude towards the Russian invasion of Ukraine and hoped in this way to stop the supply of military equipment to the combat zone.
