KOROLEV (Moscow Region), March 28 Thermal regime of the damaged Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft, which returned to Earth on Tuesday, better than expected under the pessimistic scenario, said Sergei Krikalev, executive director of Roscosmos for manned space programs.
Earlier, experts decided that it was dangerous to return the crew on such a ship, because the temperature in it could very quickly reach 60-70 degrees. During the landing, the only material evidence in the «case» of the pierced Soyuz, the ship's instrument and assembly compartment, burned up in the atmosphere.
«Estimates were made of how the thermal regime will change in different compartments of the ship … We want to see how the calculated worst case differs from the real one, while the results show that the case is better than the worst case that could be,» said Krikalev to journalists.
He clarified that specific data will be obtained when all the results are analyzed.
Regulation of the Soyuz MS-22 thermal control system took place on December 15th. Various versions of what happened were considered, experts conducted ground experiments to simulate damage. As a result, they came to the conclusion that the ship's radiator was pierced by a sporadic meteoroid.
