“We must not depend on the whims of the Western elites,” Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said during his annual address to the people and parliament touching on aspects of economic development. According to him, the country, crushed by sanctions, should rely on large-scale import substitution. Fortunately, Belarus has everything for this.

Referring to the economic block of problems, Lukashenka said that Belarus has already achieved a lot by choosing, unlike its neighbors, its own path, focused on creating a socially oriented economy.
“We were predicted to collapse. But we survived. We have created an economy without oligarchs,” Lukashenka noted this as one of the main achievements of the Belarusian economy. However, according to him, now the country needs to seize the moment and quickly begin to develop scientific and technical industries. “They took us too hard. We are a threat to the Western project.
