In addition to the premiere of the film, there was a screening of his performance REX, created for the Hungarian troupe. The director represents Russia in the international committee of the Theater Olympics. According to him, the organization came to the conclusion that Russian theaters would not come this year in order to avoid exacerbations and provocations.
“And then the committee decided that it was necessary to make some kind of Russian present and, in general, that the members of the committee — the directors — created the performance. Including I would stage the performance as a gift in honor of the Olympics. At the suggestion of the Hungarian side, the play REX was chosen Kirill Fokin,» Valery Fokin explained.
And already after that, the idea came up to make a screening of the film «Petropolis»: to demonstrate how a theater director works in another art — cinematography.
