MOSCOW, June 10 Khakassia nominated incumbent governor Valentin Konovalov for the election of the head of the republic, said Yury Afonin, first deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
In January, the CEC informed that on a single voting day, September 10, 2023, direct elections of senior officials will be held in 20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Among the regions where governors will be elected were Yakutia, Khakassia, Altai, Krasnoyarsk, Primorsky Territories, Amur, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kemerovo, Magadan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Oryol, Pskov, Samara, Tyumen regions, the city of Moscow and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
«Today, the regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in Khakassia officially nominated the incumbent governor of the republic, Valentin Konovalov, for the election of the head of the republic. The decision was made unanimously,» Afonin said.
Afonin noted that Konovalov is «an honest and decent person, a professional who has greatly increased the level of his competence during the period of leadership of the region, has created a good foundation for the further development of the republic.» According to Afonin, the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, as well as the people's patriotic forces, support Konovalov's candidacy.
«We are sure that the inhabitants of the region will entrust the right to Valentin Olegovich to lead the region for a new term,» he stressed.
