DONETSK, June 18Ukrainian troops fired 29 NATO-caliber 155-millimeter shells in Donetsk and Yasinovataya in 20 minutes, the representative office of the Donetsk People's Republic in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) reported on a telegram channel.
«Fire was recorded from the side of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine — ed.) in the direction: 14.30 — the settlement of Galitsinovka — the city of Donetsk (Kirov district): six shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired … 14.35 — the settlement of Orlovka — the settlement of Yasinovataya: fired eight shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters… 14.35 — the settlement of Galitsinovka — the city of Donetsk (Kirov district): five shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired… 14.50 — the settlement of Lastochkino — the settlement of Yasinovataya: five shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired… 14.50 — the settlement of Galitsinovka — the city of Donetsk (Kirovskiy district): five shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,» the representative office said in a statement.
Kirovskiy district is located in the south-west of Donetsk.
Yasinovataya is located about 25 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the largest railway station in the former USSR.
Artillery of 155 mm caliber is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Kyiv with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
