MAKHACHKALA, June 18 Over 2,000 private and high-rise buildings, as well as more than 20 educational institutions, were damaged in Dagestan's Buynaksk as a result of hailstorms that fell on 17 June, the press service of the government of the republic reported.
“According to the mayor of the city Islamudin Nurgudaev, in Buynaksk, in order to determine the number of victims at home and assess the damage, 25 interdepartmental groups for door-to-door visits were created. According to preliminary data, more than two thousand private households, 33 residential high-rise buildings, seven schools, 14 kindergartens,» the report says.
On Sunday, Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov visited the homes of Buynaksk residents affected by the disaster. Mostly because of the hail in the houses, the roofs were damaged, and because of the cracks that had formed, the rooms were flooded and the furniture was damaged. According to Abdulmuslimov, a damage assessment commission will be set up at the level of the republic.
On Saturday, June 17, the press service of the main department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the republic reported damage to the roofs of houses and cars in Buynaksk as a result of showers from hail.
