BRUSSELS, Jun 22 EU Head of Diplomacy Josep Borrell held separate talks in Brussels on Thursday with the leaders of Serbia and self-proclaimed Kosovo Aleksandar Vucic and Albin Kurti on de-escalation, called on Pristina to hold early municipal elections in troubled areas with the unconditional participation of Kosovo Serbs as soon as possible.
«During the meeting with Prime Minister Kurti, and then with President Vučić, who were held separately, we tried to find a solution, or at least a way to it. We presented our expectations to the parties. From Kosovo, we expect an immediate cessation of operations in the municipalities in the north … To the heads of problem regions it was proposed to continue to perform their duties outside the municipal buildings … Serbia must ensure that the protesters liberate the municipalities in parallel with the withdrawal of the Kosovo police,» he said after the talks.

Earlier, Borrell called on Serbian and Kosovo Albanian leaders to hold a new round of talks on June 22 in Brussels. Kurti replied that he would consider the offer.
