New Delhi, Jun 23 Ukraine returned the war to Europe, the world must make every effort to stop the bloodshed, said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in the US Congress.
«»Deeply destructive events have taken place over the past few years. With the conflict in Ukraine, war has returned to Europe. This is causing great pain throughout the region. The countries of the Global South have been particularly affected. The world order is based on respect for the principles of the UN Charter, the peaceful resolution of disputes and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity,» he said.
Modi also reiterated his remark that «now is not the age of war,» which he first uttered at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit last September.
«I will say it frankly and publicly. Now is not the era of wars. But this requires more dialogue and diplomacy. And we must all do everything in our power to stop the bloodshed and human suffering,» the prime minister added India.
