Most dependent on Russian liquefied Spain is a European country of natural gas, writes the Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.
The newspaper material cites data from the Brussels-based analytical center Brueghel, according to which, LNG supplies from Russia to Spain have already become equal in volume to the figures for 5 months for the whole of 2022.
At the same time, it is noted that Spain continues to increase LNG imports from Russia, including for subsequent resale to Europe. El Confidencial emphasizes that the European Union has not yet imposed an embargo on LNG imports from Russia.
The article sets out a forecast according to which the demand for gas in the European Union will remain at the level of previous years. The authors of the article point out that if the winter of 2023/2024 turns out to be colder than the previous one, then Europe should already start looking for new fuel suppliers, as it plans to phase out most LNG from Russia this year.
