NALCHIK, July 4 Lawyer Alexander Nemov and journalist Yelena Milashina attacked in Chechnya may be taken to Moscow, this issue will be resolved after they are examined in the hospital in Beslan, said Tamerlan Tsgoev, Commissioner for Human Rights in North Ossetia.
“I spoke with Nemov and Milashina, who were taken to a hospital in Beslan. Now they are being examined, MRI and other necessary studies are being carried out. After that, the question of their possible delivery to Moscow will be decided, unless, of course, there are no contraindications for the flight.” — said Tsgoev.
As he noted, during the attack, Milashina received broken fingers on her arm and a head injury, and lawyer Alexander Nemov was stabbed in the leg, bruises, and abrasions.
Earlier, the head of the Union of Journalists of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Solovyov, said that he was studying the situation with the beating in Chechnya of lawyer Alexander Nemov and Milashina, who worked at Novaya Gazeta, stressing that attacks on media representatives were unacceptable. The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, said that she had received information that Milashina had been beaten at the Grozny airport, the Ombudsman appealed to the Investigative Committee and the Chechen prosecutor's office. The head of the Human Rights Council, Valery Fadeev, said that he would appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Investigative Committee.
Ombudsman of Chechnya Mansur Soltaev accompanied the beaten on the way to the hospital in Beslan, he called the attack a diversion and a provocation against the Chechen Republic.
