Sobchak called the journalist Milashina beaten in Chechnya fearless
Russian TV presenter and journalist Ksenia Sobchak in her Telegram channel commented on the beating of journalist Elena Milashina in Chechnya, calling her colleague a fearless woman.
In her publication, Sobchak posted an excerpt from an interview with Milashina, in which she asked the journalist if she was afraid to engage in investigative journalism. “Fear is such a thing … We are always afraid of the imaginary more than the real,” Milashina answered the question of the socialite. In the same interview, the ex-employee of Novaya Gazeta stated that she had survived more than one attack, and noted that at those moments she did not feel fear, but only a rush of adrenaline.
In the post, Sobchak stated, that she is proud of meeting Milashina and described her as an absolutely fearless woman, journalist and investigator.
Earlier, the head of the Union of Journalists of Russia, Vladimir Solovyov, said that he was studying the situation with the beating of lawyer Alexander Nemov and journalist Elena Milashina in Chechnya, noting that attacks on members of the media are unacceptable. Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova said that she had received information that Milashina had been beaten at the Grozny airport and appealed to the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office of the Chechen Republic. Valery Fadeev, head of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, said that he would appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office and the TFR.
In turn, Mansur Soltaev, Commissioner for Human Rights in Chechnya, said that he was accompanying the beaten Nemov and Milashina, their currently being taken to a hospital in Beslan.
