MOSCOW, July 2 Washington's decision to return to UNESCO is connected with the desire of the United States to introduce its «standards and rules» into the organization, Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, wrote on his Telegram channel .
“The news of the return of the United States to UNESCO makes us think about the goals and consequences. Since the organization itself was formed in 1946, Washington has already left it twice under (Ronald) Reagan and (Donald) Trump and owes a considerable amount of dues,” — wrote the politician.
According to the legislator, the US decision to intensify in this direction, «of course, is connected with the desire to command, to introduce its own rules and standards here.»
«I would like to be wrong, but life has made us realists,» Karasin concluded.
