MOSCOW, Aug 11 Ukraine unilaterally terminated the agreement with Russia on coordinating the activities of railway transport, Taras Melnichuk, a representative of the Ukrainian government in the Verkhovna Rada, said in his telegram channel.
«The agreement between the government of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers — the government of the Russian Federation on coordinating the activities of railway transport, signed on May 14, 1993 in Moscow, has been terminated,» Melnychuk wrote.
According to him, the meeting of the government approved the draft law «on ratification of the protocol between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Republic of Moldova on amendments to the agreement on the operation of railway transport.» The bill is supposed to amend the agreement ratified on April 27 this year. «Changes will allow transit through the territory of Ukraine to the sections of Etulia (a village in the south of Moldova — ed.) — Reni (a city in the Odessa region of Ukraine — ed.) — Giurgiulesht (a port in Moldova on the Danube — ed.) of empty rolling stock of all forms of ownership and goods coming from the stations of Moldova and Ukraine or in transit through Ukraine and Moldova by destination to/from the Giurgiulesti and Galati Larga stations (Romania) without stopping and carrying out border, customs and other official control measures at the Reni station,» Melnichuk said.
