KALUGA, Aug 11 The Ministry of Digital Investigation is investigating whether Microsoft will really stop renewing subscriptions for corporate clients in Russia, but in general such a move by the American company was expected, Maksut Shadayev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development, told reporters at the Digital Economy forum.
«We are looking into it now, this information appeared yesterday. We are investigating how this is a confirmed fact. But globally, in general, the problem was clear, and we did not expect that this could continue for a long time,» — Shadayev said.
He noted that Microsoft products are not included in the parallel import because they need activation keys. In addition, there are alternatives to Microsoft in Russia.
«Everyone had a year and a half to prepare, everyone understood what was coming, and many in this sense are switching to Russian Linux-based operating systems,» the minister explained.
On Thursday, Microsoft support said that the corporation sent out notifications to business customers in Russia that it would stop renewing a subscription.
