We are now setting the date for the extended restoration council for approval, because it needs to be confirmed by both the Lavra and the Tretyakov Gallery. Prokhanova also added that specialists from the Russian Museum, the Hermitage, the Andrei Rublev Museum, and the Institute of Art History will be invited to participate in the council. Of course, the employees of the Tretyakov Gallery, who took part in the examination of the icon.
Earlier, Prokhanova reported that specialists from about ten leading institutions in the field of art will take part in the council for the restoration of the icon, including Yury Bobrov, vice-rector of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin, the Russian Museum, the Hermitage, the Rublev Museum, of course, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow Kremlin , GOSNIIR.
The Holy Trinity icon was painted by Andrei Rublev in the 15th century for the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. After the revolution in 1929, «Trinity» was transferred to the State Tretyakov Gallery, where it was kept until recently. In May of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the return of a masterpiece of ancient Russian icon painting to the Church. In early June, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said that the «Trinity» would be exhibited in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and then return to its historical place — the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
