LUGANSK, September 2 Modern anti-aircraft systems «Tor-M2» actively carry out tasks to protect the airspace on the front line in Luhansk People's Republic, said the commander of the calculation of the air defense system with the call sign «Director».
«This machine» Tor-M2 «- production year 2022, that is, a very new machine. Well, I would like to note that after all, this anti-aircraft missile system is such a kind of work of art of the domestic military-industrial complex. The machine is very reliable, and first of all , of course, what is most important — effective,» the crew commander said.
He clarified that this machine is more advanced than the previous version and has a number of advantages. According to the servicemen, with the help of modern radar equipment, this complex can hit various targets: from drones to enemy aircraft and cruise missiles.
«Literally yesterday, a Furia drone was destroyed by this air defense system. Before we arrived at this site, in this direction, the enemy behaved, let's say, rather boldly, tried here to work hard, to conduct reconnaissance, but after we arrived here (calculations of the Tor-M2 air defense system — ed.), they reduced their ardor, «the agency's interlocutor explained.
He clarified that the calculation shows itself very well when performing combat missions.
«The servicemen are all adults, everyone understands responsibility, everyone wants to do it. Everything is working out, everything is fine. I am proud of my calculation,» the commander said.
The air defense system can independently control the airspace in its area of responsibility and shoot down all air targets that are not identified by the «friend or foe» system. The ammunition of the latest modification — «Tor-M2» — 16 vertical-launch anti-aircraft missiles with a range of up to 12 km and an altitude range of up to 10 km. The upgraded radar of the complex is capable of detecting air targets at a distance of up to 32 km, the radar «sees» even aircraft created using stealth technology.
