The global technology brand HONOR presented two new products at the IFA 2023 exhibition in Berlin: the international version of the HONOR Magic V2 smartphone and the HONOR V Purse concept device.
The new foldable smartphone HONOR Magic V2 was introduced in China back in July – now it's time for the global version. The company emphasized that it is the thinnest and lightest in its class. The Magic V2 is less than a centimeter thick when folded and weighs 231g. The HONOR Magic V2 features a first-of-its-kind ultra-lightweight titanium hinge and uses HONOR's new proprietary steel for added strength and durability. The design of the foldable smartphone has been tested for durability and can withstand more than 400,000 folds, which means a resource of up to 10 years of use when folded 100 times a day.
The design of the smartphone allows it to be used in a partially open state with tilt angles from 60 to 110 degrees. The body halves are folded together without gaps between them. The external OLED display has a brightness of 2,500 nits for good daylight visibility, while the main OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display has a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. Both matrices have a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for smooth scrolling and animation. Magic V2 supports backlight control technology with a PWM frequency of 3840 Hz – in theory, high-frequency pulsation should reduce the strain on the user's eyes and ensure comfortable viewing of content in any conditions.
The ultra-thin foldable body of HONOR Magic V2 features a triple camera that significantly expands creative possibilities: a 50 MP main sensor with f/1.9 wide-angle optics, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.0) and a 20 MP telephoto camera (f/2.4). The dual front camera is equipped with 16 megapixel (f/2.2) sensors each.
The performance in HONOR Magic V2 is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor – this is the most powerful mobile chipset today, which is used in the most advanced flagship models. The smartphone has 16 GB of RAM, and the internal memory is 256 or 512 GB; an Ultimate Edition model with 1 TB of memory is also available. The 5,000 mAh battery supports fast wired charging up to 66 W. The device runs on the Honor MagicOS operating system based on Android 13 and supports Wi-Fi 7, 5G, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC.
Magic V2 has already appeared on the international version of the HONOR website; the company has presented the smartphone for now on the EU market. The price of the device is not disclosed; in China, the basic version of HONOR Magic V2 is estimated at 8999 yuan (about 120 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate). ” media-type=”photo” data-crop-ratio=”0.6665″ data-crop-width=”600″ data-crop-height=”400″ data-source-sid=”not_rian_photo” class=”lazyload” width =”1920″ height=”1280″ decoding=”async” />
The HONOR V Purse concept device, also presented at IFA 2023, turns a foldable smartphone into a wearable accessory in the format of a stylish clutch. It features customizable always-on display (AOD) screensavers that simulate the appearance of a handbag and animation that adapts to a person's movements and rhythm. The concept supports interchangeable straps and chains that are attached to the hinge and allow you to carry your smartphone over your shoulder, like a regular wallet or clutch of the future.
The creators specifically emphasize that HONOR V Purse was created taking into account environmental safety requirements and embodies HONOR’s commitment to taking care of the environment. The straps are made using environmentally friendly materials, and the external screen savers can be endlessly customized to suit any outfit.
As part of the international design award HONOR Talents, the company has joined forces with the creative director of the men's line BURBERRY Bram Van Diepen, contemporary artist Yunuena Esparzu, professor at the Chinese Academy of Art Yuan Yuming and artist Xiao Hui Wang to develop a series of unique always-on screensavers. The company promises to open an API with access to smartphone sensors, including a gyroscope and light sensor, which will allow aspiring artists from around the world to create their own projects that reflect the latest trends in design and fashion.
