“Voter turnout on the first day of the elections for the governor of the Primorsky Territory was 18%,” the regional government said in a statement.
In addition to the head of the region, Primorye will elect deputies to the Duma of the Lesozavodsky urban district, Nadezhdinsky municipal district, Partizansky urban district, additional elections of district deputies and elections of the head of the Runovsky rural settlement will also be organized. As of July 1, 1,414,586 voters were registered in Primorye. 1,265 polling stations opened in the region. Also, 226 sites were opened on vessels at sea, and 35 sites in places of temporary accommodation of citizens.
The previous elections for the head of the region in 2018 had to be held twice. Based on the results of the first vote, the current governor Andrei Tarasenko and the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Andrei Ishchenko advanced to the second round. Against the backdrop of massive violations noted during the elections, the regional election commission, on the recommendation of the Russian Central Election Commission, declared the results invalid.
