KEMEROVO, September 13 Russian sport cannot develop without spiritual support and without interaction with the church, said the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin during a plenary session at the All-Russian forum “Faith and Sport”.
“I am sure that today is the stage in the development of the state system when we cannot further plan and develop domestic sports without spiritual support, without interaction with the church… The Alexander Nevsky Games – they are not only a sports competition, they are a including competition of spirit and strengthening of spirit through fair confrontation, and I am sure that it is thanks to such spiritual saturation that we will see results and will continue to be proud of not only medals, not only high results, but also the understanding that these results are dedicated to our country “They have achieved the understanding of faith that this is for the good, to strengthen the authority of our country as a more spiritual power,” Matytsin said.
The first All-Russian Sports Games of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky are held in Kuzbass from September 12 to 16, 600 young athletes from 36 constituent entities of the Russian Federation take part in them. Competitions are held in the following disciplines: basketball, sambo, mini-football, chess, GTO complex. For the first time, each team is accompanied by a spiritual mentor.
As part of the First All-Russian Sports Games of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, the All-Russian forum “Faith and Sport” is being held. Among its participants are representatives of various faiths, heads and specialists of regional executive authorities, government agencies, municipalities, students, representatives of regional accredited sports federations.
