VLADIVOSTOK, September 16 Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexander Matsegora said that he expects relations between the two countries to reach a much higher level as a result of the visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to Russia.
On Saturday morning, Kim Jong-un arrived in the Primorsky Territory by train. He visited the Knevichi airfield near Vladivostok, where he was met by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The DPRK leader got acquainted with the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces at the airfield, from where he went to Vladivostok to visit the frigate of the Russian Pacific Fleet “Marshal Shaposhnikov”. Kim Jong-un was told about the ship's armament, and he himself signed the book of honored guests. Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako said on Saturday that the Primorye authorities will discuss many topics with Kim Jong-un, including the prospects for exchanging school groups for recreational activities.
“I expect as a result of the visit that our relations will rise to a much higher level… It was already good, and now it will be even higher,” the ambassador told reporters.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited Russia for the first time since 2019. On Tuesday, he arrived in Primorye on his armored train; at the Khasan station he was met by the head of the intergovernmental commission of the Russian Federation and the DPRK, the Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov and the governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako. On Wednesday, the North Korean leader held talks at the Vostochny cosmodrome with Russian President Vladimir Putin. On Friday, he visited the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Yuri Gagarin, where he looked inside a Superjet 100 aircraft. Next, a demonstration program of the Su-35 fighter took place for him, where the aircraft showed aerobatics in the sky.
