In August, the share of the US dollar in international payments increased to 48.03% (in July it was 46.5%), as evidenced by data from the SWIFT system. The indicator is the highest in five years.
The share of the single European currency decreased over the month from 24.42% to 23.2%, which also became a record figure.
Top 3 most used currencies in international payments — the British pound, its share decreased from 7.63% in July to 7.14% in August.
The share of the Japanese yen increased from 3.51% to 3.68%, the Chinese yuan — from 3.06% to a record level for this currency of 3.47%.
