Five-time world champion in bandy Bochkov died at the age of 77

MOSCOW, September 29 Five-time world champion and honored coach of Russia Russian bandy hockey team Valery Bochkov died on Friday at the age of 76, according to the website of the country's bandy hockey federation.
The causes of death are not specified.
““The Russian Bandy Federation expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Valery Anatolyevich,” the organization said in a statement.
Bochkov played for Almaty (1965-1978) and Moscow Dynamo (1983-1986), as well as Krasnogorsk Zorkiy (1978-1983). Bochkov is a two-time USSR champion (1977, 1979). As a member of the USSR national team, he became world champion in 1973, 1975, 1977, 1979 and 1985. Bochkov also played field hockey and won the national championship four times with Dynamo Almaty.

After completing his sports career, Bochkov switched to coaching and teaching. He was involved in the preparation of Dynamo Moscow and Zorkiy, and also coached the country’s youth team.
