YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, October 5An ash emission to a height of 3.5 kilometers was recorded by specialists on the Kuril Ebeko volcano on Thursday, reports the press service of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sakhalin region.

According to dispatchers, no ash fall was observed in Severo-Kurilsk, and the smell of hydrogen sulfide was not felt. There is no threat to the livelihoods of the population.
Ebeko Volcano, 1156 meters high, is located on Paramushir Island, seven kilometers northwest of Severo-Kurilsk in the northern part of the Vernadsky Ridge. Regular emissions (from weak to moderate) have been ongoing since October 20, 2016, which is normal activity for the volcano. The record emission was registered on August 31, 2018.
